On the morning of Tuesday 24th May, we ran a special VIP train between Stanhope and Wolsingham. Those onboard including staff from The Auckland Project, volunteers of the Weardale Railway Trust and Trust directors to mark the reopening of the line to heritage passenger services. David Maddan, CEO of TAP, said a few words before departure thanking everyone involved in making it happen. During the journey there was also a brief stop at our new station at Kingfisher Leisure Park.
Later in the day we also ran a couple of shorter trips to Parson Byers to allow for filming and interviews of Wayne Dixon (General Manager for Weardale Railway Limited) and Kevin Richardson (Chairman of the Weardale Railway Trust) by ITV Tyne Tees.
