NO WEARDALE RAILWAY SERVICES IN SUMMER  2021 : LATEST  UPDATE

As mentioned in earlier reports, the Trust had hoped and planned to operate a limited service this summer using our Heritage Diesel Units. However, the Company, in going through the preparatory work for an upcoming Rail Regulator inspection has found that four of the railway bridges require further assessment and re-certification before traffic can be allowed to pass. Thus, until we have the inspection results and carried out any work that is found necessary it is not possible to predict with any certainty a date when trains can recommence.

So reluctantly the Company and the Trust and have concluded that it will not be possible to repair the line and then retrain the operating volunteers in time to operate trains during the summer holiday season this year.  We are sorry to have to announce this news but hope in time to announce a possible service over the Christmas period this year. 2022 should also see special trains operated by the Company as well as the resumption of the regular Heritage Diesel Unit passenger services.
