RESTORATION WORK ON No 40 TO RESUME IN OCTOBER
As mentioned in the last report the No 40 boiler restoration project at the McEwen’s works in Keighley had to put on pause due to the Coronovirus pandemic. From May 2020 McEwen’s have had to divert all their resources as they are also major contractors of boiler services to the NHS. They have now scheduled the work on No 40 to resume in October 2021.
The Inner Firebox is already complete and has been fitted to the boiler. The first major job to be tackled Is fitting the side and crown stays. The palm stays also need fitting. Then work will proceed as outlined in the previous new report.

It is estimated that the remaining work at McEwans will be completed early in the New Year after which the final restoration work will be carried out at the Wolsingham depot.
