NEW STATION AT KINGFISHER LEISURE PARK COMPLETED : JULY 2021
The finishing touches to the approach path connecting the platform to the private road into the Kingfisher Leisure Park were completed by mid July. There remains only the installation of appropriate signage. Also a final gauging test will need to be carried out before regular trains can operate through the station.
This project has been carried out by Trust volunteers with assistance also from WRL staff and was funded by a donation from a Trust member.
Visitors please note : When operational, the platform will be a conditional halt ( i.e. the guard needs to be informed when train passengers wish to alight and passengers waiting on the platform have to clearly hail the train ).
There is no public road access or parking at the station, however walkers can access the platform as the approach track is also part of a public footpath running along the south bank of the River Wear between Wolsingham and Frosterley.
