Wearhead Station Remembered

To signify the last passenger train from Wearhead station a Weardale Railway Exhibition is planned at Heathercleugh Church,  Cowshill. Did you ever use this station for work or holidays?.... event organisers are looking for pictures or memorabilia. There will be contributions from our archivist and will be accessible from 30 June 

A Weardale Railway Exhibition will be held in CowshillChurch from June 30th, with refreshments served in Cowshill Village Hall from 2 - 4 pm on June 30thJuly 1st, 7th and 8th. June 29th marks the 65th anniversary of the last passenger train to Wearhead Station. If anyone has any photos or memorabilia please inbox. We are hoping lots of people will come along and share their memories of visiting the stations in the dale and travelling on the trains. The exhibition will be in place until the Garden Party on August 4th, open on weekend afternoons.  


 

(The last train ran on Saturday 27th June 1953, but the official BR closure date was 29th June 1953).
