Plans are underway to introduce a limited service in the summer of 2021 on at least part of the line between Bishop Auckland and Stanhope. The actual date and operational details will to a large extent depend on the  specific government regulations in place as we gradually pull out of the lockdowns under the tier system.

It is likely therefore that some form of pre-booking will need to be introduced and that seat allocation would be on a specified basis. It is envisaged that the trains would be operated as an out and back excursion rather than as a stopping service, to optimise social distancing.

Details will be published as soon as possible on this website and by links on  Facebook and Twitter.

Meanwhile our Stations and the café at Stanhope remain closed.

Trustees have produced a list of critical activities to support the re-introduction of services whilst ensuring we are following national social distancing measures and the regulations in place.
