Weardale Railway Trust Postponement of A.G.M.

Following Government and Charity Commission guidance,  the Weardale Railway Trust Board held an Extraordinary Council Meeting on Saturday, 13th February to discuss extending the deadline for our Annual General Meeting due to the impact of the Coronavirus.

After much discussion on the practicalities of holding a quorate A.G.M. safely, together with other legal requirements, it was agreed unanimously to postpone the event until restrictions are lifted, provided that this occurs before the end of October.

Since that meeting, the government has produced a road map that, if adhered to, will mean that we can hold our A.G.M. in October.  At the Weardale Railway Trust Board meeting, held on Tuesday 16th March 2021 It was agreed that the A.G.M. should proceed on Saturday 2nd October 2021.

Formal notice will be published later here and in the member magazine, “Between the Lines”, as well as on social media.

The Trust plans to hold the 2021 AGM on Saturday 22 May if at all possible.  Meanwhile we will monitor the Covid regulations as the weeks pass. If the situation does not improve we have two options. First the Trust M & A’s allow us to delay the meeting until September 2021. Alternatively the Charity Commission has indicated that under the circumstances it will allow a virtual meeting.

We will keep members informed via this website and social media.

If the meeting is held, we would plan to use the usual venue – the Schoolroom at the Methodist Church in Stanhope
