Darlington - North Road
The original station
and train shed today house a railway museum. Inside, amongst the many exhibits is Stephenson’s Locomotion No1, which hauled the worlds
first steam worked public passenger train in 1825.
Other railway groups
have established their base adjacent to the Museum. (See Contacts page for links.)
The local branch
passenger train service to Bishop Auckland still stops at the station. The goods yard across the tracks closed to goods in the 1970’s.
Today a DIY company uses the site.
