The Weardale Railway is situated in the western part of County Durham, UK. It leaves the national network at Bishop Auckland and runs west alongside the River Wear to Eastgate-in-Weardale, a distance of approximately 18.7 miles (30km). Passenger services currently operate on the section between Wolsingham and Stanhope.
